6 Ways Tech Is Expanding Global Job Outlook

Analysts frequently weigh in about how technology harms job prospects, such as when things like automation make some jobs obsolete. However, evidence also shows that technology broadens the global job outlook. Here are six ways it does that:

1. Technology Makes New Jobs Necessary

As more areas of the world become heavily dependent on tech, people must update their training and skills to reflect the presence technology has in society.

In one example, the Asian Development Bank published a 2018 report about how technology affects jobs. It recognized some of the adverse effects technology could have on jobs but asserted how a higher demand for goods offsets the job loss technology can cause.

One section of the study looked at 12 Asian economies over a decade and found that tech equipment allowed companies to meet their customers' demands and keep them happy, which led to the creation of 134 million new jobs per year.

Also, an analysis within the research paper of new jobs in India, Malaysia and the Philippines found that up to 57 percent of the new job titles listed over the last 10 years were for tech-related roles.
