Very interesting Tom, but I think there’s one more item to discuss here. The A-EVs still run on energy, it’s good to go into their impact on the grid. I would not be surprised at all if tech adoption stalls because of limitations in power production and distribution, especially in places that are already strapped for power and that refuse to build more power plants.
This sector will have to grow considerably in order to handle the hundreds of millions of cars that will need charging every day. I’m sure that natural gas (given the vast reserves the US already has) will be the first alternative, while hopefully solar and new-nuclear (like LIFTR reactors) will pick up the slack.
There will be a good opportunity for jobs in those sectors, including R&D, infrastructure maintenance, construction, operations, etc. Doubt it will replace what’s lost, but still.
